Why are Certifications in Manufacturing Important?
Similarly to how medical or defense companies follow HIPPA guidelines, manufacturing companies like us are required to uphold certain standards to ensure our products and people are safe. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards are crucial to our work and are internationally agreed upon by experts as the best way to go about things. Each year we assess our certifications and standards. This year we received certifications in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016 and AS9100D for international Quality Management Standards.
About Each of our certifications according to the ISO
a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
ISO 13485:2016 – specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements. Such organizations can be involved in one or more stages of the life-cycle, including design and development, production, storage and distribution, installation, or servicing of a medical device and design and development or provision of associated activities (e.g. technical support).
How will B&G’s certifications benefit our work?
- Increased revenue: leveraging the reputation of these Quality Management System standards can help us to win more contracts.
- Improvement of credibility: when organizations are looking for new suppliers, it is often required to have a QMS based on these standards, particularly in the medical and aerospace sectors.
- Improved customer satisfaction: by understanding customer’s needs and reducing errors, we increase customer confidence in our ability to deliver products and services.
- Higher operating efficiency: by following industry best-practice and focusing on quality, we can reduce errors, returns, and costs.
